Mishkiki: Strength of the Earth

Anishinaabe Environmental Educational Consultant

See What My Clients Are Saying

I have a keen interest in braiding botanical knowledge from Western and Anishinaabe science perspectives for undergraduate education. My unlearning and relearning journey began with books and online resources of Anishinaabe teachings. This sparked my desire to speak with Brad Howie, who I knew had a genuine respect and enthusiasm for nature. Working with Brad was a pleasure! He delivered a stimulating talk to my students, imparting a deep sense of wonder, curiosity and unity. Brad’s lived experiences and perspectives have added meaningful value to my curriculum. Importantly, he has inspired me to further embrace a two-eyed seeing approach in my development and delivery of educational content.

Brad is an excellent chemistry tutor. He helped me develop a deeper understanding of organic chemistry topics through simplifying complicated concepts. Brad is very patient and knowledgeable and genuinely cares about his students success. I would strongly recommend Brad to anybody who is struggling to understand organic chemistry concepts.

Brad is an amazing leader! Throughout my first semester at the University of Guelph he helped guide my class towards a wholistic understanding of science and Indigenous knowledge. I was truly honoured to listen and learn from Brad’s interpretive and immersive teaching. He helped me visualize my own future as an environmental scientist and how we can have a creative approach to our studies. I was very grateful for his unique lessons and will cherish the wisdom he shared throughout my career.
