About Me
Aanii, ‘hello, I see your light’ my name is Bradley Howie. I am of mixed European and Anishinaabe ancestry. I obtained a Biochemistry degree at the University of Waterloo, where I focused my research and studies on organic and nanochemistry. I not only have a passion for chemistry but in fact all of creation. Due to this, I decided to pursue higher studies in environmental science. During my masters in environmental science (MES) degree at the University of Guelph, I have had the privilege of reconnecting with my Anishinaabe heritage by researching the creation of educational materials that weave Anishinaabe knowledge, language, culture, and science into the University of Guelph Arboretum. It is said that the creator gives each and every one of us a gift. I believe that my gift is to educate and to share the gifts of the land with people. My career goals are to continue to work in post-secondary education as an Anishinaabe science educator, weaving knowledge systems. I want to make education more accessible to Indigenous peoples and continue to develop land-based pedagogy as a way to teach the next generation of students.
